20 Handpicked, Handmade Festival Catsuits for Frolicking in Fields
This guide focuses mainly on small, ethical, and independent designers! We strongly believe in supporting the indie festival wear scene and not giving our money to big fast fashion brands who often rip off the designs of small brands like these. By investing a little more money you’ll be getting an incredible quality garment that will last for many festivals to come; some of these brands even do make to measure at no extra charge and many are experimenting with more sustainable practices like using deadstock materials, eco lycra and recycling. Support independent when shopping for your festival catsuits.

Styling Ideas for Catsuits & Unitards at Festivals
A great thing about catsuits is they’re a whole outfit in one! They work great with any practical festival boots and are slinky enough to fit under whichever jacket you like…

- Layer underneath: try adding your own sleeves using fishnet tights underneath or layer over polo necks or other tops.
- Layer it up: layer a mesh style dress over the top so that you can see the catsuit underneath. Go for a muted black to dress down the look or try out a contrasting colour-popping neon. You could try a string vest style dress too!
- Add some depth with a harness; I see these everywhere at festivals at the moment. You could go for a more traditional bondage-style vegan leather number or something more disco-like this colourful perspex crop by Kokomo.
- Bum bag it up! The ultimate handsfree catsuit accessory has got to be a bum bag! Explore our pick of the best festival bum bags.

How to Care for your Festival Catsuits:
Remember, loved clothes last, these beautiful hand made pieces will last you a lifetime if you take care of them with a few easy tips:
- Keep them away from velcro! Velcro and lycra are not friends, you don’t want that stuff to catch.
- Same goes for glittered surfaces / sequins. A top tip from @lucykook is that she glue guns velvet to the back of any glittery bum bags so that they don’t catch on her lycra.
- Pay attention to washing instructions and if in doubt probably stick to handwashing at a low temp and air drying. Take extra care with foiled/reflective/fancy fabrics.
- Be careful with mesh. Treat mesh as you would a pair of tights – it can snag pretty easily.
- Hang her up! Folding and screwing up can actually cause items to stretch and degrade over time (which you’ll know if you’ve ever watched Marie Kondo fold a pair of socks!
