Just stumbled across this and had to share it! A few years ago my best pal had an online festival mag called The Festival Hunter, in 2015 I was her style columnist! Here was my first post introducing the feature including some general words about ‘festival style’ that still ring true for me as well as some choice photos from 2014…. Enjoy!
For most people, and the internet in general, the phrase ‘Festival Style’ instantly conjures up images of lookalikes wearing denim cut-offs, dainty floral headbands and lots of fringing. While Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, Alexa Chung et al did admittedly rock that look in the mid noughties, festival style can be so much more.
Any of you who have actually been to a festival will know that this bland boho uniform doesn’t accurately represent what’s actually going on in the summer fields of Britain and beyond. Festivals can be a real exhibition of creativity and self-expression; whether that’s flaunting your inner fairy in wings and nipple tassels, preparing for all eventualities in practical head-to-toe waterproofs or embracing the weather in just your birthday suit and a generous smudge of mud.
The Festival Style Hunter will not be a faceless catwalk of impractical wedges, white dresses and ‘perfect boho braids’ (we’re looking at you Coachella) but instead hopes to be a celebration of the people who look like they’re having the most fun!
…. And if you happen to be having all of the fun whilst wearing a glorious cat suit and a giant homemade head embellishment made from pipe cleaners and tin foil then we really hope to snap you soon.
We’re also planning to showcase some of our favourite independent festival designers, so you can find out where to procure your next party piece.
Here are some of our favourite faces from last summer to get you inspired…
