A mainstay in my festival calendar, Love Saves the Day is a two day festival in my adopted hometown of Bristol that has heralded the start of my festival season for the past 5 years now (wuuuut!)

I’ve been involved in all sorts of ways over the years from volunteering in the decor team in my first year of uni and selling some of my first headpieces on the sly out of my backpack to being on the street team handing out flyers and selling tickets to running stalls selling my clothes. It’s grown a lot and even moved sites but unlike a lot of festival expansions it’s grown beautifully and Team Love really put the effort in to give that all round festival experience– it’s not just another soulless inner city day festival.
My favourite bits of Love Saves the Day 2017…

The Fashpack
My sparkly travelling festival home, The Fashpack, was at Love Saves for the first time this year in all it’s sequinned glory. There were only a few of us working this time and we were pretty busy so this is where you could have found me for the majority of the weekend. I was painting faces and sharing a stall with my lovely pal Jess aka Kokomo Designs.

It’s pretty dangerous being in The Fashpack around such sparkly tempting things… I tend to spend all my money before I’ve even made any! My big purchase this year was this amazing ‘Emerald Tears‘ sequinned body suit which you’ll spot in some of these photos… it’s from my friend Janey or ‘Lady Jane Bristol’ who designs the most amazing sequin pieces and works in Thailand over the winter to get them made. It’s honestly the best thing ever, so well fitting and makes the most satisfying noise when I shimmy in it!

Me and some of my pals featured in Emma’s wonderful Bristol24/7 article on Love Saves The Day style
Mini venues & hidden secrets

Most of my time not on the stall was spent exploring the mini venues and little secret bits… Me and Steve crashed a wedding and had our own at the Inflatable Church… and Tania and I found Twisted Theatre’s amazing ball-bit room and got involved…!

Special shouts as well to the other market stall, Love Saves the Day regular The Boo-Dior, where the wonderful Glittermasque make-up gals live.

The Headliners
Not something that I would normally feature within my highlights but Team Love absolutely smashed it this year with Fat Freddy’s Drop & Little Dragon as their headliners…!

Bristol Food Offerings
We’ve got such a fast growing restaurant and street food scene in Bristol that it’s unsurprising that many of the food stalls that you see across the summer festivals originally hail from Bristol.
So obviously at Love Saves, an inner city Bristol festival, there is a great sample of local eateries. My favourites are the legendary Biblos wraps and, unfortunately since closed down, Bagel Boy. As well as the delicious Stone Baked, ’24 hour pizza people’, who I was very pleased to be neighbours with this year…

BUMP roller disco
Another lot originally from Bristol who you’ll spot at festivals all season like Boomtown & Lovebox, donning my light-up leopard print skates and having a whizz around at BUMP is always a highlight of my Love Saves.

& The Best of the Rest…
Watching Bristol boys My Nu Leng is a LSTD tradition, they played the Cloud 9 stage this year and I managed to nip off work for a little boogie.

I loved the new area ‘The Lost Gardens’ which you can see below… they had a takeover each day from two of my favourite (& polar opposite) Bristol nights- Who?Cares & Bitch, Please!
I also thought having The Brystal Maze crew out in full force making people engage in silly activities was really great. Unfortunately I missed the Temple of Lust stage this year which is usually one of my faves… but next year!
